Pastor Herman Hubbard's Bio
Widower of a beautiful young lady named Zelma G. Brown from Delco, NC. Herman's marriage lasted 38 years and is a father of six wonderful children. He also was a foster father of his wife's deceased sister's five wonderful children.
Pastor Herman Hubbard (and his deceased wife Zelma G. Hubbard who departed this life Aug. 30, 2005), are the founders of LIVING IN JESUS MINISTRY CHURCH INC. This organization was founded in September 1993. The first official church service wa held, with all officers and servants in place, on the first Sunday in January 1994 at an American Legion Hall. In October 1994, God blessed us to be able purchase a Jewish Synagogue at 119 South Street Newburgh, NY which is our present location.
Herman Hubbard was born April 22, 1936 and was raised in a Christian home in Mississippi until he was sixteen years old. He traveled much of the US and was also a migrant worker. When Herman lived in Lake Wales, Florida he attended adult night school classes at the Lake Wales High School. He Migrated to New York State and in the summer of 1956 and was blessed with a job at the Nepera Chemical company in Harriman NY, while living lived in Monroe NY. He began attending the Washingtonville High School adult classes at night for his GED.
Herman settled in Newburgh, NY and in November of 1956 and became a Member of All Nation Church Of The Living God at 106 Montgomery St in Newburgh, NY. Under the leadership of Pastor mother Virginia Bowman, Herman entered the Apprenticeship program for barbering January of 1957 in Sharpe's Barber Shop. Herman was blessed to pass the New York State board of barbering and started his own business on July 7, 1960 called the PERSONALITY BARBER SHOP. Hallelujah!
Herman was now qualified and licensed by the State of NY to train in the apprenticeship program.
In the process of years, He trained hundreds of male and female barber hair dressers and the Personality Barber Shop became one of the most finest, professional, skillful full service salons in the Hudson Valley. Herman in 1998 begin to decrease his work with the barber shop as his children increased their time in the business. They eventually became the owners and operators of the new improved Personality Barber Shop.
Herman and Zelma were creative hard workers in the All Nation Church, both with natural and spiritual gifts they served in a varity of departments. Herman and Zelma served the Lord and the church with wiliness, enthusiasm and faithfulness, both natural, physical, spiritual and financial.
Herman was ordained as a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, November 1989 under the leadership of Bishop Virginia Bowman and Pastor Joseph Williams.
Herman and Zelma learned to enjoyed life together through their ups and downs. They endured turmoil, separation, struggles from critizing accusations, finding faults, etc. After being born again, Herman and Zelma got up every morning five o'clock and participated in church activities and events, family recreation, family travel, exploring, etc. Whether together or apart, healthy or hospitalized, they would enjoy their relationship through singing, worship, reading of the scriptures and prayer (even over the phone). They read the Holy Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, a number of times.
Herman and Zelma learned not to find fault with each other or criticize each other but to praise each other. 1 Corinthians 14:3, But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort. To whom this may be a blessing to.
